Gary Rowett is looking to build a Derby side capable of pushing for promotion next season, and has already began to shape his squad.

Curtis Davies has signed for the club and Andre Wisdom is set to join the side by the weekend - But Rowett has indicated that more signings are to be expected.

Going the other way, midfield magician Will Hughes has departed for Watford, whilst Abdoul Camara left by mutual consent before joining French side EA Guingamp.

Derby have been linked with a whole host of players once again this summer, and are likely to bring in reinforcements, as well as axe several players that have been part of the squad that have failed to win promotion over the last few years.

Derby fans don't want to see another campaign in which their side drops out of the promotion hunt due to complacency and inconsistency from their squad, and therefore want to see talented, but hard working players come through the door.

Here's TWO signings that could realistically be brought in, in the next week...

Glenn Whelan

Glenn Whelan has been rumoured to have been on Derby's radar for the last few weeks, and could be a good fit at Pride Park, as Derby have been lacking an experienced ball winning midfielder since the departure of John Eustace in 2015.

Whelan has bags of Premier League experience under his belt, having played nine seasons of top flight football with current side Stoke City.

The Rams do have George Thorne and Bradley Johnson as first team defensive midfielders, but Gary Rowett may want to add Whelan for squad depth.

George Boyd

George Boyd is another player linked with a move to Derby this summer.

Boyd could be a great addition to the Derby team, as he is a hard working player that has won promotion from the Championship with both Hull and Burnley.

The Rams are in need of attacking reinforcements, as there was a major lack of creativity going forward from the side last season, with Tom Ince being the only player who could seemingly create a goalscoring chance.

If Boyd was to leave Burnley it would be on a free transfer too, and Rowett must be careful financially this summer as Derby have spent big money on players in previous windows, and it's done them no favours.

Derby fans... Would you like to see either Whelan or Boyd at the club this summer? Let us know your thought and opinions in the comments below!
