Nottingham Forest have been one of the quietest teams in the transfer market this summer and have instead been focused on bringing in a complete change in management.

Following Roy Keane and Martin O’Neil’s departure, the club have appointed Frenchman Sabri Lamouchi from Rennes. His intricate style of play may result in quite a few departures and arrivals before the new season commences.

The club's only signing so far this season is Sammy Ameobi who was brought in just before O’Neill was sacked meaning he definitely wasn’t a signing current manager Lamouchi wanted to appoint. This can sometimes cause uncertainties for a player’s future.

As well as this, Ameobi isn’t the exciting signing that Forest supporters were waiting for and is instead quite an underwhelming one given he was part of the Bolton side that fell victim to relegation last season.

The most exciting news Forest are wanting and waiting to hear is about right-back Sam Byram. The West Ham defender quickly established himself as a fan favourite at Forest last season despite only making six appearances.

Whilst West Ham have claimed that they would be open to offers for the 25-year-old, he has started training with the first team this week and his future is still uncertain. Perhaps it is worth remembering that the defender has made 27 appearances for the first team during his three-year stay.

Lamouchi certainly has his work cut out for him this summer after Forest spent around £25 million on over seven players last season - some of which quickly fell out of favour at the City Ground.

Perhaps the Frenchman’s more intricate attacking style of play will better suit players such as Joao Carvalho.

With Lewis Grabban reaching the age of 31 now and beginning to show signs of reoccurring injuries, Forest may need to start thinking about signing a striker in the weeks to come.

The problem Forest must now face is that a considerable amount of their budget was spent last season on players Lamouchi probably didn’t want - leaving him with an even smaller budget to try and get a player he actually does want.
