It's been a tough old season for Bristol City in the Championship, who still have work to do under manager Lee Johnson to ensure that they're still in the division come the end of the season.

Despite star striker Jonathan Kodjia leaving for Aston Villa last summer, the Robins started the 2016 season well and were fifth after just 11 games.

But a sharp downturn in form followed and they plummeted down the table, leaving Johnson very much in fear for his job.

Their January business failed to inspire a revival in form and going into the last few games of the season, there's still plenty of work to do to ensure the club stay in the second tier next season.

There's been real development down at Ashton Gate over the past few years and they won't want that investment going to waste, following a some disappointing performances from certain individuals in particular.

And with a few players carrying the team all season, there's thought amongst supporters that certain players in this squad haven't performed to the standard required at this level.

So with that in mind, here's the TWO Bristol City outcasts who need to be axed this summer...

Milan Duric

Milan Duric was signed in January but has rarely seen first-team action at Ashton Gate and barring a couple of appearances in the early rounds of cup competitions, we've really not seen much from the Bosnian forward.

For a player who has so much pedigree on the international stage, Robins supporters might have expected to see more of Duric going forward but he's fizzled out and could be on his way from the club this summer.

Gustav Engvall

Another forward makes the list here, and it's Swedish striker Gustav Engvall, who like Duric, has had little to no impact during his time at Ashton Gate.

Having signed for the club last summer, he's now back playing in Sweden on-loan but his first-team chances in England are looking slim.

He's one that certainly didn't make the grade in England and a man that we might not see much of in the future.
