Former Aston Villa and Spurs manager Tim Sherwood has said that Jack Grealish would be playing for England had he made the move to Spurs.

Grealish has been in superb form for the Villans this season and is widely regarded as one of the finest players outside of the Premier League.

However, there was interest in Grealish in the summer from Spurs which ultimately led to nothing as the young midfielder stayed put at Villa Park.

But former Premier League winning midfielder turned pundit Sherwood believes Grealish would be reaping international rewards had he chosen to make his move to the Premier League.

"There's a player there in Jack Grealish who should be playing for England in my opinion." Sherwood told Sky Sports, via a report in the Birmingham Mail.

"I've said it time and again if he went to a Premier League club or got that move to Tottenham that fell through at the last hour, he'd be playing for England no doubt."

Grealish has been in superb form since coming back from injury just a couple of months ago and has been at the forefront of the record breaking run of form which has seen Villa fly into the top six.

The midfielder was denied a place in the England squad earlier in the season when Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate questioned the speed and quality of the Championship.

The Verdict

Sherwood does have a point with this one in all honesty, and Grealish would certainly be knocking harder on the door.

He is going to get there one day, and he is good enough ability wise.

If Villa don't go up though, then he has a massive decision to make come the summer.
