Prior Derby County target Matej Vydra is reportedly ready to quit Burnley and will seek his departure in 2021.

The striker's contract extension was triggered by his club recently but, according to Lancashire Live, Vydra is ready to move on due to a lack of opportunities.

So, should the Rams reignite their interest in the 28-year-old and push for a reunion in January?

We quizzed our FLW writers on just that...

Alfie Burns

He’s a player that we know can do well at this level and I can understand why Derby might be keen on a deal.

Vydra was excellent for Derby before. He scored goals consistently, which did, ultimately, earn him a move to Burnley and the Premier League.

Of course, he’s lost his way a little bit at Turf Moor, but that is largely down to Sean Dyche’s style of play. There’s still a decent player in there, with a good touch and vision – even the Burnley fans can see that!

Derby need a forward and if there’s a deal to be done for Vydra you can see them chasing it.

This should be an absolute no-brainer for Derby.

The Rams have been dreadful this season, and one of their main weaknesses at the moment is their lack of options in attack.

Vydra has already shown in his last spell with the club that he can score goals in the Championship, and he'd have a point to prove once again.

It's not been the spell he would have originally hoped for whilst with Burnley, and I wouldn't be surprised to see if he was tempted by a move to Derby once again.

He could be the answer to their problems, and whoever their new manager is, should do everything they can to bring him back to the club, even if that is on a temporary basis until the end of this year's campaign.

He ticks all the boxes needed for the Rams.

Which club did Derby County sign each of these 25 players from?

I think this is definitely one worth looking into for Derby.

It does seem as though they could do with an extra source of goals sooner rather than later, as they look to get themselves out of a tricky situation in the Championship.

Vydra has already demonstrated he is a more than reliable goalscorer at this level, meaning he could be the man to perform that role for the Rams, and given he has already done that for Derby themselves, he could well be open to a return to Pride Park.

A lack of attacking recruitments was also a source of frustration for Derby fans in the summer, and bringing Vydra in would show that the club are willing to address those concerns, potentially giving the club's fanbase a boost in morale off the pitch as well, something they could really do with right now.
