Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Keiren Westwood has revealed that the two legs in the Owls' 2015/16 play-off semi-final against Brighton are "without doubt" his favourite games for the club.

The Irishman has spent six years with the Yorkshire club since joining from Sunderland – amassing 179 appearances and coming close to Premier League promotion on a few occasions.

Westwood was an integral part of the Wednesday side when they made the play-offs in back-to-back seasons under Carlos Carvahal.

The Owls were unable to secure promotion on either occasion, losing in the final in 2016 and the semi-final a year later, but clearly they're still very fond memories for the 35-year-old.

Yesterday was the four-year anniversary of the second leg of the play-off semi-final against Brighton, a tie that Wednesday won 3-1 on aggregate, and Westwood took to Twitter to share his thoughts.

It's been a somewhat frustrating season for Westwood, who has lost his place in the starting XI to Cameron Dawson and seen his side's play-off hopes all but evaporate.

Garry Monk's side were in the top six in December but have won just twice in their last 14 league games and now sit 15th.

Have these 15 current Sheffield Wednesday players been capped at senior international level? – Yes or no? Have a go now!

The Verdict

The 2015/16 play-offs may not have led to promotion for Wednesday but there is still a lot for fans, and it seems Westwood, to look back on fondly from that time.

The Irishman's performances were integral to the success of Carvahal's side during that period and he deserves credit for the part he played.

It is going to be very interesting to see whether he still sees his future at the club in the upcoming window, with Dawson having won the number one jersey.
