Early season strugglers Huddersfield Town made it four games unbeaten on Saturday afternoon, as they held Blackburn Rovers to a 2-2 draw at Ewood Park.

The Terriers took the lead less than 15 minutes into the game, as Karlan Grant converted from the penalty spot, after Elliott Bennett was controversially adjudged to have brought down Adama Diakhaby.

Goals from Lewis Holtby and Bradley Dack would turn the game around to give Blackburn a half time lead, before substitute Juninho Bacuna struck midway through the second half to earn Huddersfield a point.

Despite extending that unbeaten run, results elsewhere mean that the Terriers have dropped back into the Championship relegation zone, meaning there will still be much to think about for recently appointed Huddersfield manager Danny Cowley.

Here, we take a look at three things that he, and everyone else, will have learnt about his Huddersfield side from their performance at Ewood Park.

They are getting tougher and tougher to beat under Cowley

As has already been mentioned, Saturday's draw made it four games unbeaten for Huddersfield, something that would have been not far off unthinkable just a matter of weeks ago.

Prior to the start of that run, the Terriers had taken just a single point from their eight league games, and had lost their last six on the bounce, including the first two under Cowley.

On Saturday however, Huddersfield showed the new-found resilience they have started to develop since Cowley's arrival, largely standing firm in the face of some unrelenting Blackburn pressure and taking their chances to make sure they came away with another useful point on Saturday.

Speaking after the game, Cowley himself admitted that his side would have 'gone under' in such a match a few weeks ago, highlighting the fighting spirit they continue to develop under his stewardship, which bodes well for their prospects against a number of sides in this division.

The pressure is lifting on Karlan Grant

One interesting aspect about this recent run that Huddersfield have enjoyed, is the reduced influence of top scorer Karlan Grant.

Having been responsible for five of the seven goals scored by Huddersfield in the first eight games of the season, just one of the seven they have scored in the subsequent four-match unbeaten run has come from the boot of Grant - his clinically taken penalty at Ewood Park this weekend.

Indeed, having come off the bench to equalise against Rovers, it is Juninho Bacuna who now has three goals in as many games for the Terriers, with all three of those coming as a substitute.

It seems therefore that while Grant remains a key asset to Huddersfield, he is no longer the only man that the Terriers can turn to this season, and given the propensity for injury, suspension and loss of form at this level, that will be a big relief.

They need to become more focused in defence

While they may be making strides, there is still plenty of room for improvement for Huddersfield, particularly in defence.

Only a matter of minutes after they had taken the lead, the Terriers gifted their hosts a way back into the game, when a loose Tommy Elphick pass was capitalised on by Adam Armstrong and Bradley Dack, who combined to put it on a plate for Lewis Holtby to tap home his first Blackburn goal.

With both Holtby and Dack missing big chances to add to their tallies and put Blackburn out of sight before Huddersfield found their equaliser, you feel that there is still much to work on in defence for Cowley, if his side are to be capable of competing with some of the more ruthless attacking sides in this division.
