Leeds United's transfer business was close to perfection and the signings of Alfonso Pedraza and Modou Barrow will go a long way to helping Garry Monk's side remain in the top-six come the end of the season.

But there was one piece of January activity that seriously eluded them- their inability to bring in a striker. In a month that saw plenty of sides strengthen in this division, there was absolutely no reason why the Whites couldn't have splashed a little bit of cash to bring in a forward to take the pressure off Chris Wood.

We saw in their FA Cup defeat to Sutton United that some of the reserve players in the squad aren't all that up to replacing the senior figures in the side and in that respect, something needed to give.

But little changed and instead, the reliance on the New Zealand international continues, particularly when it comes to goals.

But who, if the window was still open, should Monk have brought in upfront?

Here's three striking options that would have made perfect sense to target in the January transfer window...

Leonardo Ulloa

Leonardo Ulloa was a January transfer target for Sunderland in the Premier League, who failed with their bid to bring him to the Stadium of Light and you get the feeling he'd have been just the player Leeds United should have targeted.

The Pedraza deal shows the funds are there to bring in top quality players on loan deals, or even loan with a view to buy deals and Ulloa would have been a man who would have fancied a move to Elland Road too.

He's disillusioned, unhappy but most importantly, knows where the net is at this level.

Omar Bogle

Perhaps the most frustrating decision by Garry Monk this window was to not go after former Grimsby Town striker Omar Bogle, who has scored goals for fun at every level he's played at in the football league.

He's been on the radar of plenty of clubs at this level for some time and you've got to say fair play to Wigan Athletic for bringing him in and beating some of the teams who were also linked with his signature.

He's a real unit upfront, whose quick and can score goals from all over the park. Leeds will seriously regret not making a move for the former Solihull Moors man, mark our words.

Ross McCormack

Yet another top-class striker at this level who elected to move to a Championship side struggling at the wrong end of the table, Ross McCormack would have been a cracking addition to Garry Monk's squad.

It's clear he's not been happy in the Midlands for some time now and he's well liked in Yorkshire, having scored over fifty goals for Leeds in the past.

The club should have really pressed forward for a move for McCormack in an attempt to kick-start his career again. He could have been the man to fire them back into the Premier League.
