The Championship promotion race is hotting up and well in the mix going into the New Year is Garry Monk's Leeds United, who sit fifth in the table after some excellent performances so far this season.

The Whites have somewhat surprised some of their doubters who knocked them after a tricky start to the campaign but they've more than turned things around as the season has progressed.

Chris Wood, Pontus Jansson and Kyle Bartley have been amongst their biggest players that have brought the good times back to Elland Road but going into January, it's clear Monk needs a couple of players to really ensure his side will be there come the end of the season.

There are teams with some seriously big budgets in this division this season and if Leeds are to keep up, we think a couple of loan signings really wouldn't go amiss.

So with that in mind, here's THREE Premier League youngsters Leeds should target on loan deals in January...

Lys Mousset

Lys Mousset is a 20-year-old striker currently on the books at Bournemouth but he's struggling to get first-team action thanks to the form being shown by the likes of Callum Wilson.

He's found himself in hot water in recent weeks because of a fall-out with manager Eddie Howe, and it's difficult to see the pacy Frenchman playing much for the Cherries, despite signing for around £5million from Le Havre this summer.

He's a player that would bring a yard of pace and physicality to the Leeds forward line, giving Chris Wood a bit of a break when it comes to finding goals to maintain the ongoing promotion push.

Timothy Fos-Mensah

Timothy Fosu-Mensah was a player who featured a fair bit under former United manager Louis Van Gaal, but under Jose, he's found it tough to get first-team minutes.

The versatile Dutch youngster can play anywhere across the back-line and has also filled in as a central-midfielder when needed too- highlighting his versatility even at a young age.

Whilst he might not be a first-team started right away thanks to the former of Taylor, Phillips and Ayling, he'd be a really useful squad player to have for the busy period leading up to the summer.

Ramadan Sobhi

19-year-old Egyptian winger Ramadan Sonhi is a man who came to the Premier League this summer with high expectations from supporters in his homeland but as expected, we haven't seen an awful lot of him at Stoke City so far this season.

He's a pacy, skillful winger who still needs to work on his game and a loan move might be just the answer as he looks to continue his development.

Stuart Dallas has been good for Leeds this season whilst Hadi Sacko has been inspiring at times but a little underwhelming on other occasions. Sobhi would be a great option to just shake things up as the season grows older.
