Queens Park Rangers have had a mixed start to the season - their worst start to a domestic league campaign in over 50 years looked to have their newly appointed manager Steve McClaren in contention for an early sacking.

But, the former England boss has turned the tide at QPR, and his side headed into this international break full of confidence after an away win at Reading, and a hard-fought draw at home to Derby in the week leading up to it.

Acquisitions for QPR have been minimal in recent seasons due to off-pitch violations regarding FFP. McClaren’s sole signings have been German Toni Leistner and former Swansea full-back Angel Rangel on free transfers, as well as bringing in Tomer Hemed and Nahki Wells on loan.

This January though, QPR under new chairman Amit Bhatia could be looking to resume spending on their side, to guarantee their Championship safety and maybe even look at a late push for a play-off place. Here we take a look at three League One players that would make for cracking additions to their squad.

The London-born forward was once of Manchester City’s youth set-up, before joining Sunderland in 2016. This season has seen the breakthrough of Maja at Sunderland, with the North-East side dropping down to League One.

The Black Cats though are enjoying a successful spell in England’s third tier, and many thanks has been handed to Maja who has nine goals in 12 appearances this season. At 19-years-old, Maja possesses great physical ability and a keen eye for goal which is already attracting attention from the higher leagues.

Hunter is closing in on a century of appearances for Fleetwood Town, and at just 23 years of age. The midfielder has worked his way of the Football League pyramid and this season under Town’s new and controversial manager, Joey Barton, has really come into his own.

So far this season the central midfielder has three goals to his name and seven assists, making him the most creative player in League One.

The Ivorian striker has been an influential part of Peterborough’s solid start to the season. Posh sit in second place behind Pompey and have scored a whopping 30 goals in 13 games.

Dembele has scored three of these, a figure which on the face of it doesn’t sound overly-impressive. But it’s the striker hold-up play that makes him such an important aspect of Peterborough sides, the powerful striker has created five goals for his teammates.
