Sunderland were held to a 2-2 draw on Friday night as they failed to put the pressure on the top two in League One.

Although a stirring fightback against Accrington got them a valuable point, Barnsley's win yesterday meant the Black Cats now sit adrift in third place and have plenty of work to do to catch the Reds in the race for promotion.

It was a frustrating night once again for new striker Will Grigg, who missed a string of good chances what made it three games without a goal for the former Wigan man.

But is Grigg just finding his feet or is the £4m man going to be a flop for Sunderland in the long-term?

We got the opinion of our writing team here at FLW to discuss Grigg's start to life at the Stadium of Light...

Gary Hutchinson

“No.

“It’s a fair question, but three games without a goal doesn’t make him a flop.

“I never get this ‘instant success’ thing that fans want.

“Players need to settle and gel with their team mates. Football is too instant, players too disposable.”

George Harbey

"I think the price tag was always going to put added pressure on him.
"I still think once he gets off the mark and scores one then he will be okay.
"It’s been a very underwhelming start, however."
Lee Connor
"I'll be completely honest, I've never rated him and thought Sunderland were mad to pay what they did.
"Saying that, he can clearly get goals in League One, so he needs time at least.
"The problem is, Sunderland need success and goals now, and at £4m, he needs to start bagging and sharpish".
