Three EFL clubs chasing deal for West Brom player

West Brom’s transfer business could be set to continue this week, with the Baggies preparing for offers for Ethan Ingram, according to Football Insider.

He’s yet to play in a single league game for the club as of yet but has been highly regarded by those at the Hawthorns and has featured for the club’s reserves on a regular basis. Now, having impressed in the youth ranks for the side, he has caught the eye of several teams.

Those clubs are MK Dons, Crewe and Cheltenham and all three Football League clubs could be willing to offer plenty more first-team football and competitive action for the 19-year-old than he has managed previously.

Quiz: Can you identify the 10 fake West Brom facts?

West Brom signed John Swift on a free transfer in May

MK Dons and Cheltenham can both offer Ingram the chance to open his competitive account with gametime in League One too and having played only in the youth ranks with the Baggies so far, it would be a fantastic opportunity for the player.

With Steve Bruce rating the youngster highly at the Hawthorns, they won’t want to let him leave on a permanent basis. Instead, the club and their manager are considering a short-term agreement for Ingram that would see him get more football and continue his development.

That could then see the defender return to West Brom ready to play more football – and there are now three clubs for the Baggies and the player to choose from when it comes to where he should play his football next season. As long as he gets gametime, he’ll surely relish the chance to play some football.

The Verdict

MK Dons and Cheltenham would probably be the best landing spots for Ethan Ingram when you consider the level of both teams.

Ultimately though, the move will probably depend on who can offer the defender the most gametime. If Crewe are offering him the chance to be a first-team regular, whereas the other two are merely offering him a bit-part role, he would be better off moving to them.

Steve Bruce and West Brom will want the player to get plenty of action at a high level, with the club holding him in high regard and wanting the player to continue his development and then come back to them as a much better full-back. That could then lead to more playing time with the Baggies in the future.

For Ingram, the player then will need to make the right call as to where he moves to this summer – but a loan move is definitely right for the defender and his club during this summer window.
