Bolton Wanderers and Millwall have joined the race to sign Southend United’s Ryan Leonard this summer, but Phil Brown is adamant The Shrimpers will do “all we can to keep him,” reports the Sheffield Star.

Sheffield United have already had a bid rejected by Southend for Leonard’s service, but fellow promoted sides, Bolton and Millwall, have now shown an interest in the midfielder.

All three clubs are expected to be active in the summer, as they look to bolster their squads ahead of a return to the Sky Bet Championship, but Southend want to keep Leonard and build on last season’s success.

Southend finished seventh in League One, just one-point behind Millwall, and Leonard was impressive for Brown’s side, making 48 appearances across all competitions.

Despite the 25-year old having just one-year remaining on his contract with Southend, Brown insisted the midfielder was not for sale, he said: “Things are bubbling along where Lenny is concerned but we’ve put a not for sale sign on his head at the moment and will do all we can to keep him.

“There’s a lot of interest but we’ve knocked back all the bids so far.”

Where do you expect Leonard to be playing his football next season? Will he still be with Southend? Let us know your thoughts!
