Swindon Town striker Nicky Ajose is a transfer target for a host of clubs, HITC Sport understands.
Championship sides Bristol City, Rotherham United and Preston North End are said to be interested in signing the former Manchester United trainee, while Sheffield United are closely monitoring the situation.
The 24-year-old joined Swindon last summer, penning a three-year deal, after leaving Leeds United by mutual consent and has repaid the Robins’ faith in him by firing in 14 goals in 23 matches this campaign.
Preston, Rotherham and Bristol City are all in the bottom half of the Championship and are willing to take a punt on Ajose, in the hope that he will find the goals that keep them away from the relegation places.
Sheffield United, under Nigel Adkins, are mounting a promotion push in League One this season and the striker could be the player that helps them get over the line.
Ajose was brought to Leeds by David Hockaday in August 2014 but made just three outings, before being shipped off to Crewe Alexandra to spend the remainder of the season.
Swindon have had a slow start to the season after reaching the play-off final last season, which saw Mark Cooper lose his job. He was replaced by former favourite Martin Ling but he had to step down due to health reasons.
The Robins sit in 14th place in the League One with 34 points, eight points away from the relegation places and seven away from the play-offs.
