Caleb Ekuban is Leeds United’s only absentee for this weekend’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Reading at Elland Road, reports the BBC’s, Adam Pope.

Thomas Christiansen has confirmed that Ekuban will be the only member of his Leeds squad unavailable for selection this weekend, although the striker is edging closer to a return to fitness.

Ekuban fractured his foot in Leeds’ victory over Sunderland in August, and has not featured for the Whites since that afternoon.

Christiansen could confirm that Ekuban had started to run on his foot again, as he enters the final stages of his recovery process.

Leeds’ otherwise full bill of health means that both Eunan O’Kane and Pontus Jansson are set to feature against Reading on Saturday, despite fears about their fitness.

O’Kane’s fitness was questioned by his national coach, Martin O’Neill last week, whilst Leeds were forced to pull Jansson out of Sweden’s squad due to an injury picked up against Sheffield Wednesday prior to the international break.

Leeds enter Saturday’s clash with Reading in fifth, having picked up just one victory in their last four Championship fixtures.

Despite a poor recent run, Christiansen’s side remain unbeaten at Elland Road.

The Verdict

Ekuban appears to be making progress on his return from injury, which can only be seen as a good thing for Christiansen and Leeds.

However, more important is the availability of O’Kane and Jansson, who will be key to Leeds picking up a positive result against Reading on Saturday.

Both have played a major role so far this season for Leeds, and if they are at their best on Saturday, it will give Christiansen’s forward thinking players an excellent platform to cause the Royals problems.
