Leeds United boss Thomas Christiansen has conceded that the January window is a difficult time to bring in players as he looks to strengthen the Whites squad.

The Yorkshire club have been active this month already, with new signing Laurens De Bock in line to make his debut at left-back away to Ipswich Town tomorrow.

Whilst that was a very welcome addition, more new faces would be greatly appreciated for Leeds in the final part of the season. A striker is seen as a priority given how the current options have failed to deliver.

And, Leeds Live reveal how Christiansen wants a new number nine but recognises the difficulty of landing key targets in this window.

That could be a possibility, but as I said the market is very difficult right now. But of course, if it helps the team, of course. I would like more players, but this winter window is very difficult.”

Leeds have failed to score in their last two games but do occupy sixth position as it stands ahead of the trip to Portman Road.

The Verdict

All Leeds fans will agree with Thomas Christiansen that they need more players, particularly a striker, however they have to accept that it is a tough month as the manager says.

I’m sure the recruitment team will be desperate to bring in an additional player or two but the market definitely doesn’t suit the buying team in January.

Leeds may have to be prepared to pay inflated fees to secure their targets and whilst it’s a risk, it could pay off by May.
