‘This’d be one hell of a signing’ – Rangers plotting move for star in fine form: Opinion

Scottish giants Rangers are considering a summer transfer window move for Charlton Atheltic midfielder Joe Aribo, it has been reported by Goal.

Aribo has scored ten goals in 37 league appearances for The Addicks this season, and has impressed many with his performances this season, leading to links with a number of high profile sides.

Premier League champions Manchester City and top four contenders Arsenal have already been linked with the 22-year-old, and Goal are now reporting that Rangers, along with Scottish rivals Celtic, are also considering a bid for the midfielder, who is set to be out of contract at The Valley in the summer.

So would Aribo be a good signing for Rangers as they look to end Celtic’s dominance in Scotland next season?

We asked some of our Football League World writers for their thoughts.

Chris Gallagher

“This would be a smart signing.

“Steven Gerrard’s recruitment has been hit and miss so far at Ibrox but players like Aribo are the ones he should be targeting.

“He would bring energy and goals to the team and is only going to get better.”

Jacob Potter

“This would be the perfect place for him.

“Gerrard has already shown that he’s willing to give promising talents game time up in Scotland.

“He could thrive under Gerrard’s guidance and would be an exciting talent to have in the Scottish leagues, that’s for sure.”

Sam Rourke

“This’d be one hell of a signing.
“Aribo has been sensational for the Addicks this term, and has contributed a plethora of assists and goals to really push the south London club towards promotion.
“His flair, creativity and ability on the ball has made him one of the standout players in the third tier.
“Under the tutelage of Steven Gerard at Rangers, he really could flourish.”

Louie Chandler

“This would be a real coup.
“They may have fallen just short this season but Gerrard has seriously narrowed the gap on their rivals.
“Aribo is a serious talent and would be a real statement of intent if they can beat Celtic to him.”
