Leeds United are planning for the future with manager Marcelo Bielsa pushing to get new contracts in place for keeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell and attacking midfielder Samu Saiz, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Bielsa believes in operating with a small streamlined squad so must see something in the duo if he wants to tie them down to new long-term deals.

But are Leeds right to open contract talks with Peacock-Farrell and Saiz?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

Yes, but only to protect their investments.

BPF, for me, is some way short of being a Championship stalwart.

Saiz is falling out of favour too.

However, both have a value and Leeds need to protect that value.

Louie Chandler

I can understand Peacock-Farrell.

The shot-stopper's deal runs out in 2020 and they are right to get their young-talent tied down to a longer deal.

Considering Saiz still has three more years and is not exactly in favour at the moment, it seems a bit premature.

Jay Taylor

This'd be great business.

They are two of their better players and if a club wants to progress, then they need to keep hold of them.

Both are decent ages too, so signing them up will ward off any potential interest in the pair.

Strike while the iron is hot, both are in a team doing well and new deals will make them both happier and hopefully better as the season rolls on.
