Leeds United are bound to still be licking their wounds following their Championship play-off semi-final defeat to Derby County, that brought to an end their season and left Marcelo Bielsa's side with the prospect of another season in the English second tier.

Despite the disappointment of missing out on promotion, it has not stopped the Whites making preparations for next season, with Brentford centre-back Yoann Barbet a target, according to French publication L'Equipe.

Barbet, 26, is out of contract this summer, having made 34 appearances for the Bees this season and with Leeds desperately needing to add depth to their squad, a move north could be on the cards.

So would Barbet prove a good signing for Leeds?

We discuss.........

Toby Wilding

"This'd be an ideal transfer.

"Injuries in defensive areas have cost them dearly this season, so they want to bring in other options to cover should they arise again next season.

"Barbet has shown during his time at Brentford that he would be capable of doing that job at Elland Road."

Gary Hutchinson

“I like Barbet, this would be a good move.

“I can see him fitting their system and ethos perfectly.

“My worry would be cost.

“Leeds haven’t been spending big sums, surely they’d have to here when it comes to his wages.”

Jacob Potter

"They need to do everything they can to sign him.

"Barbet has been a long-term target for Leeds, and it’s no surprise to see them reigniting their interest in him in the summer.

"He’s out-of-contract and Leeds need additional depth in defensive areas ahead of next year’s campaign.

"This would be an excellent singing if they pull it off."
