QPR have joined Bristol City in the race to sign Chelsea full back Jay DaSilva, Football Insider have reported.

DaSilva made 32 appearances in all competitions during a season long loan at Bristol City last season, and The Bristol Post have reported that both the club and player are keen for an Ashton Gate reunion next season.

Now however, it appears that DaSilva will have other options in the Championship, with QPR also reportedly interested in the left back.

Rangers will need to strengthen in that area of the pitch following the departure of Jake Bidwell at the end of the season, and while Bristol City are keen on a permanent deal, it is thought that Rangers could be open to a loan move, which may suit Chelsea better given their impending transfer ban.

So would DaSilva be a good signing for QPR?

We asked some of our Football League World writers for their thoughts.

Gary Hutchinson

“It would be a good signing but I’m wagering nothing more than a loan deal.

“We saw the impact Chelsea kids had in the Championship last season. Everyone from Derby to Wigan benefitted in some way.

“QPR are London-based, it makes sense for them to take a slice of the talent pie too.

“I like Dasilva, young, full of energy and desperate for senior football to make his claim.”

Toby Wilding

"This would be a good signing for QPR.

"DaSilva took to The Championship easily at Bristol City last season, so Rangers should have no concerns over the deal in that sense.

"They need a lift following a lacklustre end to the season, and the recruitment of a young; lively talent such as DaSilva would certainly give them that."

George Brooks

"This'd be an excellent signing.

"Dasilva is a very promising young player and could have a big future ahead of him.

"He was very impressive while on loan at Bristol City last season and another loan spell in the Championship would be good for his development."
