Norwich City midfielder Ben Godfrey has become the latest Championship player to be linked with a move to Premier League giants Manchester United.

Godfrey, who can play in the centre of midfield or defence, has attracted plenty of attention this season for his performances in helping Norwich seal a return to the Premier League as champions of the Championship.

The 21-year-old made 31 appearances and scored four goals to help The Canaries seal their place in the top flight for the first time in three years.

According to The Sun, those performances have done enough to catch the eye of United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is apparently keen to bring Godfrey to Old Trafford.

It has already been reported that United are close to completing the signings of two other second tier players, with Football Insider reporting that Solskjaer is confident that both Swansea's Dan James and Stoke's Nathan Collins will complete moves to the club in the next few days.

So would Godfrey be a good signing for Manchester United?

We put that question to some of our Football League World writers.

George Brooks

"Godfrey is a good player and has been excellent for Norwich in the Championship this season.

"I'm not sure he's good enough to make the step up to a team like Manchester United though.

"I'm not sure it would be the best move for Godfrey either, as he is unlikely to get a chance in the first-team at Old Trafford.

"He would probably be better off staying at Norwich, where he will have an important role to play in the Premier League next season."

Toby Wilding

"This'd be a smart move.

"Godfrey's versatility means that he would offer Solskjaer options in more than one position, and the way that he fitted into Norwich's side at such a crucial time for the club shows that shouldn't be phased by the step.

"The only concern for United may be that there appears to be a reliance on signing several young Championship players, with no experience of the Premier League, for next season."

Jacob Potter

"He's a player destined for the top.

"Godfrey has really impressed me this season, but I'm not sure a move to Manchester United would be the best move for him.

"They are a club in disarray at this moment in time, and Godfrey should remain patient for now before rushing into this."
