Leeds United remain unbeaten this season in the Championship, after a 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic made it seven points from a possible nine, and took the Whites to the top of the league on goal difference.

This solid start to the season has not stopped manager Marcelo Bielsa look to strengthen his squad with Serbian defensive midfielder Namanja Radoja a target, according to TEAMtalk.

The former Celta Vigo player is available on a free-transfer and can still move to England despite the transfer window being closed, because he is currently out of contract.

But with West Ham and Brighton believed to be interested in the 26-year-old, Leeds face a battle if they wish to secure their man.

So would Radoja be a good signing if he made the move to Elland Road?

We discuss........

Josh Cole

“I think this could be a very shrewd signing by Marcelo Bielsa if he can get a deal over the line for Radoja.

“Whereas Kalvin Phillips is a very much a mainstay in Leeds United’s starting eleven, the lack of cover in his defensive midfield position could be an issue if he suffers an injury at some point during the current campaign.

“Although Radoja has no prior experience of English football, the fact that he was able to make over 100 appearances in Spain’s top-tier division during his time at Celta Vigo suggests that he should be more than capable of adjusting to the Championship.

“Therefore, it would be wise for Bielsa to pursue a deal for the free agent as Radoja could bring some much-needed competition to Phillips for the anchor-man role at Elland Road.”

Ned Holmes

“This'd be a smart move.

“The 28-year-old showed his quality at Celta Vigo, making over 100 La Liga appearances for the club.

“A serious injury kept him out last season but if he is back fit he would surely improve the squad.

“Kalvin Phillips is a hugely important player for Leeds and, with Vurnon Anita and Ouasim Bouy seemingly not in Bielsa’s plans, 19-year-old Jordan Stephens is the only other defensive midfielder in the squad.

“Therefore, bringing in another player to provide extra depth for that position looks a good idea.”

Jacob Potter

"Do they need another central midfielder? I think not.

"Leeds already have some strong options in midfield in Adam Forshaw, Mateusz Klich and Kalvin Phillips.

"So it certainly came as a surprise to hear that Bielsa’s side are interested in signing Radoja who plays in the CDM role.

"If anything, if I was a Leeds supporter, I’d be concerned as it could lead to further questions on Kalvin Phillips’ future at the club heading into the January transfer window.

"Radoja would be a good signing at this level I think though, having previously played at a high level for Celta Vigo in Spain.

"But like I say, they should be looking to strengthen their squad in other areas."
