Leeds United have handed the advantage in the race for an automatic promotion place in the Championship back to Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United, following a 1-0 defeat to Birmingham City at the weekend.

The defeat to a single Che Adams goal leaves Marcelo Bielsa's side a point behind the Blades with six matches of the season remaining.

Bielsa though is looking to the future with highly-rated attacker Stuart McKinstry of Motherwell a target, according to Football Insider.

And it seems The Whites have beaten off the challenge of Premier League side Southampton to agree terms for the £400,000 valued 16-year-old.

So would McKinstry be a good signing for Leeds?

We discuss..........

Sam Rourke

"This'd be a shrewd signing.

"This is a low-risk purchase that could turn out to be inspired for Leeds.

"At the age of 16, McKinstry has the world at his feet and a platform like Elland Road is the perfect destination for him.

George Dagless

"Probably.

"He's a bright player with plenty going for him and Leeds usually get these signings right.

"I see him doing well."

Gary Hutchinson

“It’s an interesting one.

“There’s not going to be many people who can confidently say it’s a good signing because we don’t see Motherwell on a regular basis.

“What I would say is Bielsa’s recruitment is always measured.

“I can’t see him making a huge error of judgement.”
