Sunderland continue to perform well in League One under manager Jack Ross, with the Black Cats sitting in second place in the table just three points off leaders Portsmouth with a game in-hand.

Ross though is not sitting on his laurels and is looking ahead to the January transfer window and a loan move for Arsenal youngster Joe Willock is on the cards, according to Football Insider.

Sunderland will face competition from teams in the Championship, Holland and France but they feel comfortable a deal can be done.

So would Willock be a good signing for Sunderland?

It could turn out to be a decent addition.

He has played against League One and Two opposition already and scored three goals against them for Arsenal’s U21 side in the Football League Trophy.

So if he had a sustained spell in the third tier, I can see it working out and being a really solid addition.

It could be a masterstroke for Jack Ross as they look to keep their promotion hopes on track.

Gary Hutchinson

I’m not sure Sunderland need lots of new faces, they’ve got a good squad and once their injured players come back, they have depth too.

It seems a bit foolish to add more to that when it isn’t really needed.

George Dagless

Yes, this'd be a shrewd deal by Ross.

I think if Sunderland could get him they'd really boost their significant promotion chances further.

He's a bright talent and Ross would get him performing.
