Swansea have added the name of Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel to their list of possible Graham Potter replacements, according to print edition of The Mirror (May 20, page 50).

The German has managed to get the Tykes promoted from a tough League One this season, finishing second to Luton and taking the title race right through until the end of the season.

Swansea are currently preparing for life without Graham Potter as he closes in on a switch to Brighton, meaning a hunt for a new boss.

Stendel has only been in the English game for a single season, but his exploits with the Tykes have clearly caught the eye of the Swansea hierarchy.

The 45-year-old had a modest playing career taking in Hamburg and Hannover 96 amongst others. He moved into management with the latter but was sacked despite 17 wins in 34 matches, leading him to Oakwell.

Is he a good target for the Swans as they look to push back up towards the Premier League? Our FLW panel discuss.

George Harbey

"I think it would be a massive coup for Swansea if they managed to lure Stendel away from Barnsley.

"I think they will find it incredibly tough to do so given the season they’ve just had, but it’s surely worth a punt.

"He’s taken to life in English football like a duck to water, and he’s an exceptional coach who would be a fantastic appointment for the Swans."

Toby Wilding

"You can see why this would interest Swansea.

"Stendel has picked Barnsley up brilliantly during his first season at Oakwell to get them back to The Championship at the first attempt, and the way he has taken to Barnsley suggests he would be just as willing to immerse himself in all things Swansea should he move to The Liberty Stadium.

"That could serve him well should he make the move to Wales, and his promotion experience with Barnsley could help as Swansea look for a return to the Premier League."

Gary Hutchinson

"This'd be a huge appointment.

"Stendel might have had a decent budget at Oakwell, but let's not forget they lost Brad Potts in January and Kieffer Moore through injury.

"That was a huge blow to the squad, but Stendel guided them through.

"He'd be a superb capture if Swansea pull it off."
