Reading manager Paul Clement must be hoping that the international break has given his squad a chance to re-group, so that they comeback ready for a real fight as they battle to move away from the Championship basement.

Going into the break on the back of a heavy 4-1 defeat to in-form West Brom, Clement will be hoping he can rally his troops ready for the visit of Millwall at the weekend.

Clement will also be evaluating whether he has the squad to get the Royals out of trouble, and if not who he could move for in the January transfer window to bolster his squad.

With news emerging yesterday that Man United are likely to let midfielder Scott McTominay leave on loan, it could alert the likes of Reading who clearly need to invest in their side.

But could young Scott McTominay be a player that could do a job at Reading if Clement can prise him away from Manchester United?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

He would be a bit of bite in the midfield that they are sorely lacking.

The Scotland international would be in a relegation dogfight if he joined the Royals but that would be a steep learning curve and one that would stand him in good stead.

But in terms of Reading, they lack steel in the middle and his dogged determination could be precisely what they need if they have any hope of getting out of the mire.

Gary Hutchinson

Yes, if they could pull it off.

I see McTominay going to a Palace or Huddersfield, a Premier League side with need for January recruits.

I’d be very surprised if he came to the Championship, more so the bottom half.

However, he’s a great player and would be excellent for Reading.

George Dagless

Yes.

Reading need some extra options and McTominay would add plenty of energy and industry into their midfield.

They've been too easy to beat this year - McTominay would help them change that.

Jacob Potter

This'd be a great deal.

He would be an excellent addition to a Reading side that has really struggled this season.

McTominay would certainly add something different to the Reading side and would face stiff competition from the likes of John Swift and Liam Kelly for a starting spot.
