Wigan Athletic manager Paul Cook will be looking to freshen up his squad this summer, as he looks to improve on his 18th place finish and mount a credible top-six challenge next season.

In an effort to find the goals his side needs, Wigan are in the battle to sign Portsmouth star Jamal Lowe according to Sky Sports, who is facing up to another season in League One after Pompey failed to gain promotion.

So would Lowe be a good signing for the Latics?

We discuss........

Ben Lang

“This would be a fantastic signing for Wigan, who are in need of wing players at the moment.

“Gavin Massey and Michael Jacobs have both struggled with injuries in the past, while Lowe offers more pace than both of them.

“However, I’m not convinced Lowe would make this move with a number of more ambitious Championship clubs interested.”

Gary Hutchinson

“This'd be a dream capture for them.

“Lowe plays with a purpose and confidence that I believe has him down as a Championship attacker at the very least.

“He’s got goals in him, he’s creative and he’s humble too.

“They should move quickly though, scouts all over the land will know his name.”

George Brooks

"Lowe would be an excellent signing for Wigan.

"He is a very talented player and has had an outstanding season for Portsmouth in League One.

"His numbers for Portsmouth have been very impressive and he looks to have what it takes to become a top player in the Championship."

Alfie Burns

“Absolutely.

“Paul Cook will know the forward well from his own time at Portsmouth, and will have an insight into the player’s mindset.

“After his goalscoring exploits with Pompey, Lowe deserves the chance to step up to the Championship, and Wigan and a reunion with Cook could be perfect.”
