Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray will be looking to build on a solid campaign following promotion, having achieved a 15th place finish last season in the Championship.

One player Mowbray believes could strengthen his squad is formers Rovers player Grant Hanley who most recently has been plying his trade with newly promoted Norwich City, where he was club captain, according to a report in the print edition of the Sun on Sunday (June 16, Page 60).

So would Hanley be a good signing for Rovers?

We discuss........

Toby Wilding

"I think this would be a good signing for Blackburn.

"Rovers are short on numbers in defence, and Tony Mowbray has already made it clear that it is an area he wants to strengthen in in the summer.

"Hanley was a dependable and regular feature during his first spell at Ewood Park, and given his familiarity with the club and struggles for game time at Norwich, this feels like a deal that could suit all parties."

Kealan Hughes

“This'd be a brilliant signing.

“Hanley knows the club, he knows the division, and he has performed wherever he’s been. He hasn’t lived up to his young reputation when he was previously at Blackburn, but he has shown he is one of the best defenders at this level.

“This is exactly the type of signing Rovers should be looking to make if they are going to start challenging for promotion to the Premier League again.”

Gary Hutchinson

“I can see this being a masterstroke for Blackburn, but I do have reservations.

“Hanley will likely go there and play regularly, but they’re overlooking the fact they’ve got a young lad at the club with real talent.

“Scott Wharton won’t think this is a good move; he’s been out on loan this season but he’s ready to step up.

“It’s a blocker for him, that’s for certain.”

George Brooks

"Hanley would be a good signing for Blackburn and he's more than capable of making an impact at Ewood Park.

"He's a very good defender and was an important player for Rovers during his previous spell at the club.

"He could be a very good signing for Tony Mowbray and a move would make sense for him too.

"He's unlikely to get a chance at Norwich next season and will be looking to get his career back on track."

Jacob Potter

"He’s be a great signing for Mowbray’s men.

"Hanley rarely featured for Norwich last season as they won promotion to the Premier League.

"He’s got experience of that winning mentality though, and would be the ideal fit for Blackburn.

"Hanley knows the club well and it would be a smart signing by Tony Mowbray’s side if they can pull it off.

"A real coup."
