Following relegation from the Premier League, last year was the season the R’s were meant to romp to promotion.
However, it wasn’t to turn out like that as they disappointingly finished in 12th place.
Granted, losing their prolific talisman Charlie Austin halfway through the season to Southampton rocked them. This wasn’t helped, however, with the signings of Jamie Mackie and Peterborough striker Conor Washington not pulling their weight to the level that Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink would have liked.
The switch around in managerial duties didn’t help either, with Chris Ramsey departing in November, before Neil Warnock took caretaker charge for a month, before Hasselbaink joined from high-flying Burton.
Off the back of that campaign, the QPR fans will demand a higher finish than last season, and a push for the play-offs certainly isn’t off the books.
Here, Football League World writer George Harbey suggests a starting 11 that will surely win the league for the R’s, if not that, then definitely win promotion.
