As pressure mounts in the Midlands on Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce, many pundits and fans are thinking about potential replacements.

One manager the Villa board could consider a move for is the boss of their fiercest local rivals, Garry Monk, current manager of Birmingham.

Garry Monk at Birmingham City may not be having the smoothest of times at St Andrews but a win over Championship pacesetters Leeds United, reminded everyone of the qualities the former Swansea man possesses.

So should Villa make a move for Monk, if Bruce gets the chop? Would it be a good fit?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

Monk would be a wonderful Aston Villa manager.

He’s a man I admire hugely, he’s proving his worth at Birmingham in the most appalling of conditions.

Would he swap one side of Birmingham for the other? It would guarantee him a hateful reception is St Andrew’s, that much is certain.

George Dagless

Now, this would ruffle some feathers.

Monk is a good manager and I think he'll get it right at Birmingham eventually so that goes for him for sure.

I just cannot see it, though, and I think it would be more trouble than it is worth.

Sam Rourke

This would cause a meltdown.

I could actually see Monk fitting in really well at Villa Park, and if given the resources by the board, he could excel.

He's had his hands tied at Birmingham, yet he's still doing a relatively good job.

Weirder things have happened.
