Millwall have identified a number of names as potential replacements for former manager Neil Harris, who walked away from the Den last week after four years at the club, with former Manchester United captain Roy Keane one of four names being linked.

Keane is joined by current managers Mark Cooper of Forest Green Rovers and Stephen Robinson of Motherwell plus free-agent Gary Rowett on the Lions' shortlist, as reported by the Daily Mail.

So would Keane be a good appointment at Millwall?

We discuss........

Ned Holmes

“I’m not sure about this one to be honest.

“He has success in the Championship in the past, particularly in getting Sunderland promoted to the Premier League in the 2006/07 campaign.

“However, it has been a while since he had a senior job and you would really question whether he is the right man to take over at Millwall at the moment.

“It is going to be difficult for whoever has to follow Neil Harris but you feel like Millwall can be slightly more ambitious than Keane.”

Ben Lang

"This would be very bold, but it's an appointment that would certainly increase interest in Millwall this season, but it seems an unconvincing appointment based on his managerial track record.

"Keane does not have any experience as a manager since his time at Ipswich ended in 2011, while his recent stints as assistant manager at Ireland and Nottingham Forest did not end successfully.

"He was a fantastic player on the pitch and achieved some relatively good results at Sunderland and Ipswich, but there is clearly a reason why he has not been picked up by another club since then.

"It seems likely that Keane would instil a certain element of fight and passion into Millwall which may have been previously lacking, but I'm not sure his managerial ability matches what is required at The Den."

Jacob Potter

"He could be the perfect manager to take Millwall forward in the future.

"Millwall are known for being a physically-dominant team, and Keane obviously had that in his locker during his playing career.

"His insights during his punditry have been fascinating, and I love his no-nonsense approach to various topics in a game.

"He’d fire up a group of players that have struggled to build own some impressive showings in recent seasons.

"Millwall have shown what they can do against some of the best teams in the Championship, and Keane could turn out to the ideal appointment for a club that have the ability to challenge for a top-half finish this season in my opinion."
