Huddersfield Town midfielder Lewis O’Brien is set to sign a new contract with the club, according to The Sun on Sunday (05/09, page 61).
O’Brien’s future was strongly linked with a move away from the John Smith’s Stadium over the summer. Leeds United looked to be favourites to land O’Brien’s signature, with Huddersfield rejecting multiple bids from their West Yorkshire rivals.
But Huddersfield held onto their midfield talisman, who has been an integral player under Carlos Corberan since the Spaniard’s arrival at the club.
O’Brien, who has played 86 times for the Terriers, scored three goals and added three assists last season. This season, he’s made three appearances in the Championship and scored in the win over Reading last weekend.
Now, The Sun on Sunday report that O’Brien is set to sign a new deal at Huddersfield, with the midfielder happy to extend his contract. His current deal at the John Smith’s Stadium expires at the end of this season, but the club do have a 12-month extension option in his contract.
It would undoubtedly be a huge boost for Town to get O’Brien to sign a new deal, after working so hard to keep hold of him last month.
Here, we take a look at their reactions to this news…
This would be massive
