Wolves are plotting a major £35 million swoop for Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland, according to the Express.

Would this be a wise signing for the Championship champions? Or is it way too much money?

We discuss...

George Dagless

Too much money for me.

I think Butland is a really good 'keeper despite Stoke's woes this season but he isn't worth that kind of money - even with the market the way it is.

Wolves can obviously spend that kind of cash but surely it'd be wise to perhaps invest it in a few players rather throwing a lot at one.

Ben Barkworth

It's smart for Wolves to upgrade on their goalkeeping position, but £35 million seems too steep for Butland especially with Stoke getting relegated.

They should look abroad for a cheaper alternative.

Alfie Burns

This would be massive for the club.

Butland has the potential to stay at the top of the game for at least the next decade, which makes him such an attractive target.

For me, Wolves certainly need a new goalkeeper ahead of their Premier League return, with Butland a standout option.

If a deal is agreed it will be further evidence that Wolves mean business ahead of a Premier League return.

Jay Williams

£35m seems very steep for Butland but Wolves could see this as an investment.

At just 25, Butland is still young for a goalkeeper and he is already knocking on the door to get the number one shirt for England.

Having Ruddy and Butland as their goalkeeping options is healthy as there would be plenty of competition for places too, but you would expect Butland to be the top choice at Molineux for years to come if he does join.

Chris Gallagher

Not at the price suggested.

There's no doubt that Butland is an upgrade on John Ruddy but for £35m Wolves should be looking elsewhere.

The Stoke keeper is a good stopper but for that price you could get a lot better from abroad.
