‘This would be excellent news for everyone’ – Many Charlton Athletic fans react to midfielder news as Celtic linger

Charlton are expected to offer midfielder Alfie Doughty a new contract amid speculation about his future at The Valley, according to South London Press.
Doughty attracted interest from Scottish Premiership champions Celtic during the summer window, although the 20-year-old remained with the Addicks following their relegation to League One.
He caught the attention of Neil Lennon last season – scoring three times in 39 appearances in all competitions, and was one of the few positives from what turned out to be a miserable campaign for Lee Bowyer.
Doughty has continued his impressive form during the early stages of this season, although the midfielder suffered a serious knee injury in Charlton’s recent win at Northampton and is expected to be ruled out for around four months.
But the Addicks are hoping to offer Doughty fresh terms to ensure that he doesn’t leave on a free when his contract expires in June.

Put clause in that if a bid is made, and he wants the move we sell. Good for both Alfie and the club: 🤷🏻♂️
