Millwall are among a host of Championship clubs keen on doing a deal for Albert Adomah as his contract at Aston Villa comes to an end.

The 31-year-old was a key player under Steve Bruce as Villa lost in the play-off final two years ago but he didn't feature as much once the experienced manager left an Dean Smith came in.

Therefore, it was no surprise to see he will be moving on after the west Midlands outfit won promotion last month. According to the Bristol Post, Nottingham Forest, Bristol City and the Lions are all keen on the player.

So, it's going to be tough for Neil Harris to convince Adomah to come to the club but would he be a good signing for Millwall if he was to join?

Here our writers take a look...

Alfie Burns

"This would be excellent business for Millwall to conduct and if they get in ahead of their rivals, you’ll have to tip your hat to Neil Harris.

"Adomah wasn’t at his best last season for Aston Villa, but Dean Smith had incredible faith in him and his place in the starting XI at Wembley showed that.

"In years gone by he’s been so creative in the Championship, and it wasn’t long ago that he was well into double figures for goals. If he can rediscover anything like that for Millwall, they’d love him down at The Den.

"On a free, it is a no-brainer that the Lions push this."

Toby Wilding

"This would be a really good bit of business for Millwall.

"Bringing in someone with Adomah's experience at Championship level - and at the right end of the division as well - would be a huge boost for Millwall in their expected battle against relegation next season.

"Adomah is a winger who you feel could make things happen for Millwall next season, and it would be interesting to see how he would step into what would likely be a more leading role for The Lions than he has had at other sides.

"Given he is available on a free transfer with a number of other clubs interested, this would also represent something of a coup for Millwall."

Chris Gallagher

"What a signing this would be.

"Jiri Skalak didn't make the impact many hoped for at The Den last season and it's clear that a quality winger is needed to ease the burden on Jed Wallace.

"In Adomah the Lions would be getting someone who still has a lot to offer and he scores goals. That has been a problem for the team in the past, so to get a wide man who will chip in regularly would be a real boost.

"It's going to be tough for the Londoners to seal this deal given the competition for his signature but it would be a real statement signing if they could pull it off."
