Sunderland talisman Josh Maja is reportedly attracting interest from Championship side Bristol City.

The 19-year old came off the bench to salvage a point against Wycombe at the weekend - scoring his 11th goal of the season in the process.

The January transfer window is bound to be a nervy time at the Stadium of Light as the Black Cats will be praying that they can keep hold of their star-man.

But if Maja was to leave for Bristol City in January, could they try and sign Robins forward Mo Eisa as part of the deal?

Here, we discuss whether this would be a smart move by Jack Ross....

George Harbey

This would be an extremely smart move.

Eisa has made just four appearances for Bristol City this season following his £1.5million move from Cheltenham Town, starting just once this season in the Carabao Cup.

The 24-year old netted 25 times in 50 games last term and finished as one of the leading goalscorers in League Two, so undeniably deserves the chance to test himself in League One if he isn't getting game-time in the Championship!

Alfie Burns

No, they should stand firm over Maja.

Maja is one of the EFL’s most promising players and Sunderland should be doing all they can to keep hold of him.

More effort should be going into that than negotiating to get Eisa in the deal.

Jacob Potter

They should certainly be considering it.

Eisa is yet to feature much for Bristol City this season and it seems unlikely that he will be able to force his way into the starting XI.

Although Sunderland should be reluctant to sell Maja, they should consider an exchange deal, where they would have a ready-made replacement in Eisa who will be keen to kick on after a disappointing start to life at Bristol City.
