Reading have experienced a tricky start to the 2018/19 Championship season and sit 20th in the league on just nine points after ten games.

But two wins and a draw in their last four games has given Paul Clement's side a glimmer of hope in terms of making a success of the season.

The Royals brought in eight new players over the summer but there is a good chance that the club will already be looking ahead to the January transfer window.

One player they could have their eye on is Aston Villa midfielder Henri Lansbury.

The former Nottingham Forest man has fallen completely out of favour with Steve Bruce so far this season and has made just one appearance in the League Cup to his name.

In fact, in their opening ten games he has only made the matchday squad on two occasions and his career at Villa Park looks to be coming to an end.

So, should Reading make a move for the midfielder?

This'd be a very good signing.

Reading have improved in recent weeks but they are still lacking a lot in terms of their squad overall.

If Lansbury could get back to anywhere near his best he would be a major upgrade on what they currently have in midfield. It's a risk though because he's not really done anything since joining Villa.

It’d be the type of transfer that could be good for all parties.

Lansbury needs regular football, which he would get at Reading.

The Royals would be benefitting from a player with real class, whilst Villa would be offloading a fringe player.

It’ll be interesting to see if anything like this presents itself

Louie Chandler

Absolutely.

Lansbury will not doubt be keen to prove himself as a top Championship midfielder and Reading will be desperate to improve their squad in January.

This move would be great for all involved.
