Stoke City are said to be closing in on the potential signing of Barnsley goalkeeper, Adam Davies according to The Sun journalist, Tom Barclay.

Barclay revealed that the Potters are close to completing deals for Lee Gregory and Nick Powell as well, with the trio of players set to arrive on a free.

Davies has been impressive for Barnsley this season, and his performances saw him named in the League One Team of the Season recently.

He made 42 appearances for Daniel Stendel's side in this year's campaign, as they won promotion back into the Championship at the first time of asking.

Davies kept 19 clean sheets in that promotion-winning season, and without him, it would be difficult to see Barnsley winning promotion automatically.

The club confirmed earlier this month that he had been offered a new deal, but it seems as though Stoke have won the race to sign him.

But would Davies be a good signing for the Potters?

We discuss....

Lee Connor:

"This would be a superb signing for Stoke in my opinion, especially with Jack Btland more than likely to move away from the club.

"Davies has been brilliant for Barnsley and played a key role in their success, and losing him is a bitter blow for the Reds as they return to the Championship.

"At 26, he has his prime to come as well, and if Butland does move on, then Stoke will be getting one of the better goalkeepers outside the Premier League as his replacement."

Ben Lang:

"Davies would be a good addition to any Championship club, given his impressive clean-sheet record in League One this season.

"But I'm not convinced he would get in the side ahead of Butland, so this is perhaps a route Stoke should take if Butland is on his way out.

"Davies would fit in well at Stoke, as Jones will be determined to further tighten up Stoke's defence following the good progress made in the first part of his reign."

Jacob Potter:

"A really smart signing by the Potters.

"Davies has already shown his quality with Barnsley this season, and it has come as no surprise to see other clubs interested in signing him.

"He's the perfect Butland replacement if he is to depart in the summer."
