Bristol City are closing in on a deal to sign St Etienne striker Lois Diony, according to reports.

The 25-year-old has struggled to make an impact at the French outfit, so a move to the Sky Bet Championship could be what he needs to revitalise his career.

Would Diony be a good signing for Lee Johnson's side?

Sam Preston

I must admit I’ve not seen him play but from what I’ve read, he’s a talented striker who has just lost his way.

So he’s another rough diamond for Lee Johnson to polish up, which seems a perfect fit.

Bobby Reid has been on fire his season but he needs someone to share the load with. Famara Diedhiou looks short of match fitness right now so Diony could cement a first team place right away if he hits the ground running.

Alfie Burns

Diony has struggled with St Etienne, but prior to his move there in the summer, he was prolific elsewhere.

Lee Johnson obviously feels he needs more firepower this month, and targeting the striker could be a bold, but successful move.

If Diony can rediscover some of the form he showed during the 2016/17 campaign, he would be a successful addition at Ashton Gate.

George Dagless

He's rated quite highly so he could be an exciting signing for the Robins.

They've done quite well in bringing in players to see them excel when most didn't think of them and I'd expect the same kind of process here.

Chris Gallagher

This would be a superb signing.

Diony was in-demand in the summer, ending up at St. Ettiene where it hasn't worked.

However, you don't become a bad player overnight and there's been a lot of chaos at the club this season anyway.

The Robins have had success in the French market over the years and Diony could be the latest.
