Championship play-off hopefuls Derby County are interested in signing Wigan Athletic forward Gavin Massey, according to a report by Football Insider.

The 26-year-old is due to become a free agent in the summer, with his contract at Wigan set to expire at the end of the season and took his tally to five goals this season with a brace against Leeds United on Good Friday.

The report states that Wigan are keen to keep hold of the player, with Championship rivals Nottingham Forest and QPR also keen on signing him in the summer.

So would Massey be a good signing for Derby County? We discuss...

Ben Lang

"I think Massey would be a great signing for Derby.

"He has already proven his ability to perform against the big sides when he scored a brace against Leeds on Friday.

"Lampard's side would really benefit from his pace and liveliness, especially with Harry Wilson and Mason Mount likely to move on in the summer."

Chris Gallagher

"This would be a smart move on a free transfer.
"Massey has had a tough season with injuries but he has shown over the past few games that he can be a top player at this level.
"He has good pace, is direct and to get a player like that on a free would be a good signing."

George Brooks

"Massey would be a great signing for Derby, especially as they would be getting him on a free transfer.

"He has played a key role in helping Wigan secure their Championship survival and has shown that he has what it takes to become a big player at this level.

"He would suit Derby's style of play and at 24, there is still plenty of time for him to improve."
