There have been plenty of stand-out Championship stars this season who are sure to attract a lot of attention this summer.

Potentially none more so than Wigan Athletic midfielder Nick Powell, who will become a free agent this summer when his contract expires.

The 25-year-old has notched up seven goals and seven assists for Paul Cook's struggling side this season after proving to be the driving force behind their previous League One triumph.

And one team who have taken a shine to him is SPFL giants Rangers, according to TeamTalk.

If they are to bring him in, Gers will have to fend off interest from SPFL rivals Celtic as well as Championship clubs Norwich City, Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday.

But would he prove to be a good signing for Steven Gerrard's side?

We discuss...

George Harbey

"It would be an unbelievable signing for Gerrard’s men.

"Powell would be one of the best players in the SPFL, if not the best, if he signed for Rangers.

"Their midfield is an area that needs strengthening, and they will be a force to be reckoned with next year if they sign Greg Stewart from Birmingham too."

Toby Wilding

"This would be a good signing for Rangers.

"The blue half of Glasgow are slowly starting to rival Celtic once more and Powell's own ability would bring them ever closer to their old foes, not to mention beating them to his signature would provide a huge morale boost at Ibrox."

Louie Chandler

"This would be a serious coup for Rangers.

"Gerrard has so nearly got the club back to a similar level as Celtic and bringing in somebody of Powell's quality would be a serious statement of intent.

"If they can beat their arch-rivals to his signature it could give them an edge next season."
