New Swansea City manager Steve Cooper is moving swiftly to stamp his own mark on his squad, with a move afoot to sign Chelsea youngster Reece James on loan, following a successful loan spell out at Wigan Athletic last season, as reported in the Daily Mail.

James is currently recovering from an ankle injury sustained on England Under-20 duty and any loan move is likely to depend on how long the 19-year-old will be sidelined.

So, would James be a good signing at the Swans?

We discuss.........

Toby Wilding

"No question this would be a good signing.

"James was outstanding for Wigan last season, and played a huge role in keeping them in the Championship, so he could now be able to help push Swansea on in the division.

"There may be some concern about his recent ankle injury, which may hold him back in terms of getting up to full fitness, but if he does recover fully, he could be a huge asset at The Liberty Stadium next season."

Kealan Hughes

“This would be a magnificent signing.

“James showed last season at Wigan that he is an excellent full back in attacking and defending, and on a consistent basis.

“He quickly became a fans favourite and if he can replicate those performances next season then Swansea will have one of the best full-backs in this division.”

Gary Hutchinson

“It would be a great signing.

“James proved himself last season as a quality defender at Wigan and he’s got to be worth upwards of £10m.

“To get that sort of talent on loan for a season would be a real coup.

“He’s going to be a top player and Swansea will be lucky to add him to their ranks.”

George Brooks

"This would be a fantastic signing for Swansea City and a great way to kick-start the Steve Cooper era.

"James was excellent in the Championship while on loan at Wigan last season and that experience should serve him well.

"Cooper obviously knows how to get the best out of talented young players and if he can do that with James, he'd be a fantastic signing.

"I'm not sure whether Chelsea would be prepared to loan him out again, or whether he would want another loan move, but it could be the best thing for his development."

Jacob Potter

"This would be a fantastic signing for the Swans.

"James has already shown last season that he has a bright future ahead of him, and he could thrive at Swansea.

"He’s a versatile option to have as he can play in defence or in midfield, as shown by his pervious loan spell with Wigan.

"I have my doubts as to whether Chelsea will be willing to loan him out again next season, but this could prove to be a real coup for Swansea if they strike a deal with the Blues."
