West Brom players will be returning for pre-season in under a month with the club still on the hunt for a permanent manager, despite a host of names being linked with the post.

With speculation surrounding the manager continuing, there must be concerns for Baggies fans around potential transfer targets plus the futures of the current Albion squad, with star striker Jay Rodriguez' future still in limbo, with Burnley and Bournemouth eyeing the forward.

So with the summer transfer window now in full swing, can the Baggies afford to lose Rodriguez?

We discuss........

Kealan Hughes

"Losing both their main strikers would be a massive blow.

"It would be hard to replace Rodriguez's goals and that was a real area of strength for West Brom last season.

"However if they get around £16m for him that would be a great price for a 29-year-old, and it could be reinvested into signing another top Championship striker."

Ben Lang

"This would be a huge blow, especially after the Baggies opted not to sign Dwight Gayle.

'These two players were the club's main source of goals last season, and it would leave the incoming manager with a huge task to replace their goals.

"Even if a sizeable fee is offered, I don't think West Brom can afford to lose him."

Louie Chandler

"Not if they want to win promotion.

"Losing Gayle was a huge blow but having Rodriguez there will have softened the blow somewhat.

"But if they lose him too then that is nearly 50 goals they to replace in the summer and that's a task that would be fatal to their promotion hopes."

Toby Wilding

"I don't think they can at all.

"If Rodriguez goes, they will be badly short of attacking options, and given their defensive record last season, that could leave them in all sorts of trouble.

"It would also send a message to a number of other clubs about The Baggies' ambitions for next season, and not in a way that would be positive for West Brom."

Gary Hutchinson

“Can they afford to keep him?

“He wasn’t the hit I expected last season. Sure, he played okay, but he didn’t tear the division up.

“Look at some of the more notable strikers who did well; Gayle, Marriott, Pukki.

“J-Rod wasn’t in that bracket and for the wages he’s likely on, they needed more.”
