Aston Villa are weighing up a transfer swoop for QPR midfielder Massimo Luongo, according to the print edition of the Daily Mirror via the Sky Sports News Paper Talk page.

Would the Australian be a good signing for the Villans?

We discuss....

Ben Barkworth

Luongo would be a good signing for Villa because he could take Glenn Whelan's place in the team.

They are similar players, but Luongo has a lot more longevity as well as being more well-rounded.

Jay Williams

If Villa stay down, then Luongo could be a great signing but he would be a risky capture going to the Premier League.

Aston Villa need proven Premier League quality players if they wish to stay in the top flight should they return this season.

While Luongo has potential to become a top flight player, he is not the immediate fix that Bruce's side will need.

Alfie Burns

Luongo would bring a lot to Steve Bruce’s squad.

I’ve been impressed by the midfielder’s contribution at QPR this season, and I can see him attracting plenty of interest when the summer comes around.

Midfield remains an area where Villa could still improve, particularly if they go up, and I’m sure Luongo would help do that.

Gary Hutchinson

This would be a great move for Villa. Luongo is a cultured midfielder who has a brilliant reputation and with Villa, he'd be taking the next step.

Selling him might be the final straw for QPR fans though.

Chris Gallagher

It depends what division they are in!

If Villa are promoted then it's a decent signing. Luongo has had a very good season and is capable of playing in the top-flight however it won't be a deal that really excites fans.

In the Championship, he has proven he is a very good player, so it would be a smart signing.

George Dagless

A much needed addition.

Villa have decent midfielders but in that deep-lying role many of their options are not getting any younger.

Luongo is dynamite in the middle of the park and would add some real industry and bite to an already decent side.
