‘This would be a great move’ – Aston Villa eyeing Man United player: The verdict

Aston Villa are eyeing a summer swoop for Manchester United’s 20-year-old Dean Henderson, according to various reports.

The 20-year-old is highly-sought after with Arsenal and Chelsea also keeping tabs on the promising shot-stopper, who has been on loan at League One side Shrewsbury Town.

Would this be a good summer signing for Villa?

We discuss…..

Adam Simeoni

Steve Bruce loves a Man United goalkeeper!

Sam Johnstone has proven to be a resounding success during his time at Villa Park, and the former United defender could have further luck with a move for Henderson.

The player has performed well at Shrewsbury Town, and looks ready to make the step up to the Championship.

Alfie Burns

Henderson has been impressive in League One with Shrewsbury this season, and Villa are clearly planning for the possibility of not landing Sam Johnstone on a permanent deal.

The 20-year-old, like Johnstone, has come from Manchester United and would be a shrewd addition if Villa fail to sign Johnstone permanently during the summer.

If Villa are promoted, I can’t see them moving for Henderson, but if they fail to secure a Premier League return, for me, he would be a better investment than Johnstone.

Chris Gallagher

This would be a great move.

Henderson is really showing his class at Shrewsbury this season and will want regular football in the coming years, which won’t come at Old Trafford.

The 20-year old is extremely highly-rated and you only have to look at the clubs interested in him to see this would be a coup for Steve Bruce.

George Dagless

Perhaps they’re not so confident at keeping Johnstone.

Villa would ideally like to keep their current Manchester United loanee but the deal is getting rather protracted and this seems like the back-up.

If he can have the same impact as Johnstone, though, fans won’t mind one bit.

Sam Preston

He is a massive talent and his expiring contract is attracting interest from the Premier League and abroad.

That is where Villa hope to be come the summer.

I’m not sure he is ready to be first choice at such a big club but it would be a brilliant coup if they could get him, beating stiff competition in the process.

Okna free, it’s a no brainer.
