Middlesbrough are plotting a move for Burnley striker Sam Vokes, according to TeamTalk.

Would the powerful Welsh forward be a good signing for Tony Pulis' side? Do they really need him?

We discuss....

George Dagless

He'd excel.

Vokes is still good enough to do a job in the Premier League but you feel in the Championship he'd score plenty.

He's a powerful presence and few are better placed than Boro to get the best out of him.

Alfie Burns

This would be a cracking signing.

Vokes fits into Pulis’ style of play and could thrive at the Riverside Stadium.

You’d imagine Pulis would have to move a forward out, but if he can get Vokes on board, it’d be really encouraging.

Gary Hutchinson

Not for me, no.they've got two better in Assombalonga and Braithwaite, but Pulis doesn't fancy either of them.

Vokes has scored 20 in a season once and reached double-figures just three times. That isn't what Boro need.....

Jay Williams

Vokes is a proven goal scorer at Championship level and his physical stature fits the Tony Pulis mould of a centre-forward.

With Vokes as the central point of Boro's attacks and the likes of Pat Bamford and Adama Traore working off him, you can see them being a real menace next year.

But £15m is a steep price and Pulis is rightly looking at alternatives.
