Leicester City are reportedly at the front of the queue to re-sign centre-back Liam Moore from Reading, as per TEAMTalk.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed a superb start to the season for the Royals, and his high-level performances are attracting interest from several Premier League sides as the January transfer window beckons.
Moore is of course no stranger to Leicester City, it’s where he began his career and where he went on to make 59 first-team appearances before joining Reading in 2016.
So, what do you make of this? Would this be a wise move to re-sign Moore for the Foxes? Is he good enough to step up?
The team here at FLW take a look…..
It’s a rumour we’ve seen before in terms of Moore getting linked to the Premier League and we obviously know he has quality.
He’s perhaps reminding us of that again this season after a couple of quiet years and I’m not shocked to see the rumours resurface given Reading’s start to the season.
Leicester need a defender with the injury to Soyuncu and so this one would make sense for the Foxes in all honesty.
Reading will fight hard to keep him, though, especially if they are still in promotion contention in January.
He’ll feel as though he has unfinished business there surely?
Moore played his part for Leicester City earlier in his career, and it didn’t come as a surprise to see him leave the club when he did, as he wouldn’t have been getting the regular minutes he wants.
I’m still not convinced that he’d be a regular starter with Brendan Rodgers’ side either, so I think he should avoid a return to the King Power Stadium.
He really didn’t impress me towards the back end of last season with Reading, but has started this year’s campaign strongly under the management of Veljko Paunovic.
I don’t think he’s done enough to warrant a move to the Premier League just yet, and I think he needs to stick with the Royals this season before having an eye on a move elsewhere.
Do you remember which club Leicester City signed these 15 players from? Have a go now!
This would be a bit of a surprise in my opinion.
Moore is obviously a really talented defender who has been a commanding figure for Reading FC for a number of years now, and he’s a player who is obviously really familiar with Leicester City having been there previously.
He is dominant in the air, he organises his defence really well, and he is also good at playing the ball out from the back. Those attributes would see him fit really well into life in the Premier League if he did end up making the step-up.
Whether he’s good enough for Leicester City or not, though, is another question. The Foxes are currently a top-six side looking to cement their place in the European spots, and they have some quality defenders on the books at the King Power.
I think there are better moves for Moore out there, personally.
