Fernando Forestieri has been fined £25,000 and banned for three games for his role in a brawl between Sheffield Wednesday and Mansfield players in pre-season, the Owls have confirmed.

The incident happened during a friendly in July when the 28-year-old striker caused a mass brawl after a bad challenge on an opposition player.

Forestieri then appeared to punch an opponent in the face before being assaulted himself trying to escape the bust-up.

The striker admitted an FA misconduct charge and will now miss the Owls' next Championship games against Stoke at home and Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest away.

So is this loss bad for in-form Wednesday?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

This won't affect them too much.

Fernando Forestieri had been on the bench in recent weeks during Sheffield Wednesday’s upturn in form so losing him for three games will only alter the substitute Jos Luhukay selects and brings on.

If he was bang in form, it would be an issue, but he is not, so it shouldn’t worry Owls fans too much.

It is just a slight inconvenience.

George Dagless

Potentially not.

Obviously, he is a top player but they've been doing okay without him in recent games anyway.

It might have been a blow at another point in time but right now they should be alright.

Gary Hutchinson

Not really.

He’s missed the last couple of games and they’ve been on a roll.

It does reduce options, but it might serve as a warning to him that he needs to be better.

I suspect they’ll be happy to get the situation over and done with.
