Having enjoyed an extremely successful loan spell in League One with champions Sheffield United in which his series of astute defensive performances helped the Blades to the title, interest in Wolves centre half Ethan Ebanks-Landell was set to spike this summer.

A number of clubs will have monitored the player and his availability, and with Wolves spending big this summer and restricting the player to what would surely have been prolonged spells on the sidelines, another loan move was always on the cards.

MK Dons are the club to have won the race for the player’s signature, and manager Robbie Neilson will realise how much of a coup he has pulled off by bringing the player to Stadium:MK.

The 6 ft 2 in commanding central defender joins the Dons with experience of escaping the third tier following his exploits with Sheffield United last season, and Neilson will look to use this to his advantage in his pursuit of a return to the Championship next semester.

The Scottish boss has already brought in big Ousseynou Cisse from Ligue 2 side Tours, and Ebanks-Landell is set to partner the Malian international in a new look central pairing ahead of the season opener at home to Wigan.

The 24-year-old will know that those at his parent club are already closely monitoring his progress following his successful spell with the Blades, and following that up with another impressive season will either see him break into the first team at Molineux, or earn a deal with another Championship side.

Bringing Ebanks-Landell to Buckinghamshire is a real statement of intent by Neilson, and the young defender will be sure to reward his new manager’s confidence with a year of dominating performances.
