Bristol City have confirmed that striker Shawn McCoulsky has left the club on a permanent basis to join League Two Forest Green Rovers.
The 21-year-old was highly-rated at Ashton Gate but has struggled to get into the team, making just one appearance as a substitute in the League Cup.
And, with a few mixed loan spells in the past few seasons, McCoulsky has found himself way down the pecking order under Lee Johnson.
Shawn McCoulsky has joined @FGRFC_Official on a permanent deal.

Therefore, he has gone elsewhere to get regular football, with the Robins confirming on their official site that he had joined Mark Cooper’s side, although the Championship outfit have insisted on a sell-on clause in the deal.
It’s fair to say that this decision prompted a strong reaction from Bristol City supporters.
Some argued it was the correct call due to the youngster not delivering on recent loan spells, whilst others felt it was wrong to sell someone with so much potential.
Here’s just some of the comments on Twitter…
He can’t get a game at Southend lads, calma

Looked a good prospect when he first joined us back in 2015, but seems to have stalled career wise in the last 12 months, & was struggling to break into the Southend team by the end of 2018. Good move for him & I'm sure if he regains his goal-scoring touch he'll do well for FGR

Sad to hear this

Shocking move. Can only imagine this has come from the player getting fed up being bounced around the lower leagues, which in turn, is the fault of the club. Treating him like this will haunt us in years to come.

Makes sense, probably have a buy back to cover ourselves , can see janneh and semenyo being above him in pecking order now so it’s best for both parties.
