Bristol City have confirmed that striker Shawn McCoulsky has left the club on a permanent basis to join League Two Forest Green Rovers.

The 21-year-old was highly-rated at Ashton Gate but has struggled to get into the team, making just one appearance as a substitute in the League Cup.

And, with a few mixed loan spells in the past few seasons, McCoulsky has found himself way down the pecking order under Lee Johnson.

Therefore, he has gone elsewhere to get regular football, with the Robins confirming on their official site that he had joined Mark Cooper's side, although the Championship outfit have insisted on a sell-on clause in the deal.

It's fair to say that this decision prompted a strong reaction from Bristol City supporters.

Some argued it was the correct call due to the youngster not delivering on recent loan spells, whilst others felt it was wrong to sell someone with so much potential.
